New from Solzy at the Movies by Danielle Solzman: C2E2 2019: Paul Rudd on The Secret To Not Aging

Ant-Man star Paul Rudd was on hand in Chicago this weekend for the headlining Clueless reunion panel taking place during the 10th annual C2E2.

While he was running late as a result of an autograph signing, Rudd joined Clueless co-stars Alicia Silverston, Breckin Meyer, and Donald Faison on the Main Stage.  After about 20 minutes or so of conversation with moderator Clare Kramer, the floor was turned over to the audience for a question and answer session.

I was among those to ask a question during the panel.  I had given some thought to asking about what was the most influential thing that the cast took away from writer-director Amy Heckerling.  Ultimately, I went in a different direction–one that was no doubt inspired by a tweet from Judd Apatow from late February (see below).

My question for Paul Rudd: What is your secret to not aging? (It was followed by a roaring applause from the crowd.)

Breckin Meyer: Just tell us already!

Paul Rudd: I’m 80 years old on the inside.  It’s a mess underneath.  In here (points to head) and here (points to heart), pure darkness.

Breckin Meyer: People don’t know—

Paul Rudd: With a little moisturizer.

Breckin Meyer:  But on the set of Clueless, they would come and they would get us 20 minutes before set and then on Paul’s trailer, they would knock like an hour beforehand because he has to finish sucking the lifeblood out of babies he takes in order to maintain and then he was camera ready.

Clare Kramer: There you have it.

Paul Rudd: Hey, it’s a tough business.

Breckin Meyer: Do what you got to go!

Clare Kramer: Thank you!

Clueless is currently available on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital platforms. The Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) runs March 22-24, 2019.
