Seven Gunn reviews “Friend Request” on ChicagoNow

Friend Request (2017) is a paranormal horror thriller that uses a popular gimmick, which translates into social media cultural phenomenon. I suspect there will be many more films like these trending and am not particularly a fan of horror.  Usually, horror films are not well executed, plastered with clichés, and the story line and characters aren’t developed. I thought this film was okay, but nothing spectacular. If I had cable I would wait to see it, and it would probably be one of my last choices of movies on the list to watch. This film was created by a German director, Simon Verhoeven, was written by Verhoeven, Philip Koch, Matthew Ballen, and distributed by Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures and Warner Brothers Pictures.
