Leo Brady reviews “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows” on AMovieGuy.com

I know that my nine year old self would love Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, but since my 31 year old self knows better, feeling that boyhood joy was not meant to be. It’s sad that weak human characters, a predictable plot, and an atrocious third act can destroy any of the good memories I had of the Turtles. The fearsome foursome of Donnie (Jeremy Howard), Leo (Pete Ploszek), Raphael (Alan Ritchson), and wise-cracking Mikey (Noel Fisher) are back and looking muscled in mid-training form for the Mr. Universe competition. The mega-dollar success of 2014’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles assured a sequel, even though the first installment left everything to be desired. It raked in $65 million dollars on its opening weekend alone, so cue the Cowabunga’s and another opportunity to put the turtle action figures at the end cap of the toy section of Walmart.
